After researching Japanese stencil technique Katazome , I have designed imagery in that style and used the dreaded photoshop to manipulate these images together to form new designs for digital print.
This particular design was based round the thought of swifts creating natural formations flying against the wind, i think what has worked well is the 2D birds transfroming into a 3D shape. Next step?? Maybe after printing play with manipulating the fabric to a 3D structure. :)Graphic designs for photoshop fabric prints :) Inspired by designers such as Alexander Mcqueen, and Zazo and Brull. These will be placed in an interior setting either as upholstery fabric or a soft padded screen, to take you back into another time and place, very 'wind in the willows' or the mysterious goings on of Beatrix potter. As you can tell i have a story telling vibe flowing through, anyone remember the tales of farthing wood ?
If you love coraline and love tiny knits :) www.bugknits.com Althea Crome artist of contemporary micro knits did all the costume design for coraline and shows you in this video her love of all things tiny and a bit of her working :P enjoy xx
I recently discovered tsunmai kanzashi a type of japanese hair decoration and have become totally addicted to changing the style for western culture, so here are a few of my design ideas and my paper marquette.
Also through out the design process i used a techinique of circles to fill in the image with colour, giving a puzzle effect. Something i have done in the past inspired to draw a graphic design.
Sorry i haven't blogged for a while as have been busy at uni and my stupid laptop decided to wipe itself clean!!! But i've now finished for the summer and there should be plenty of posts.
< This pic is another line drawing :) i think im going crazy on those lol Anyhoo my friend is fanatic about lady gaga and has me totally hooked, so i thougt i would introduce a little fan art into everyones lives by adding this :P
< I'm in love with cherry blossoms at the moment and i thought i would do a fashion illustration for a design idea i have. I've started to add a lot more colour into my work and using pencils gives me enough expermintation to play with shading as well as using my favi fine liners :)
I just recieved my exhibition brief from uni and i'm developing an idea from the greek myth Cupid and Psyche, i like the idea of love and tragedy so using line drawing once again as my favourite medium, i created this soft curved image which is take from a promotional image of the Twilight movie. Also in greek mythology butterflies are seen as a symbol of re-birth this can be seen throughout reniassance paintings, and i decided to incoporate this within my theme.
Here is an idea for a fabric print, for the costume that i want to make, developing it first in black and white to get an idea where the stenciling will be placed.
It took me a long time on the decision to create a image in the dark, there where high barriers such as lighting, models, and what shapes would work within this structure. The larger the shape the better the image, but simple details like a twist of the wrist or the opening and closing spaces between give a neew exciting momentum.
